UPDATED 12/17/10!
Here’s the second part of our Feast of the Seven Fishes story this year: where to go to enjoy the feast on Christmas Eve. Now, you could come over to my in-laws for the feast, and we usually have more than enough, but I don’t think we could handle everyone. This is not a reflection on you; it’s just an issue with space.
And so, here’s where you can go to get your fishy feast fix this Christmas Eve…
Mirabella Cafe in Cherry Hill is offering “a modest but steady flow of assorted fishes” on December 23 and 24 for $42.99 a person. Their menus includes: Appetizer – fried calamari, fried smelts, fried baccala, baked clams and bruschetta con alici; a Seafood Salad of baccala, scungilli, calamari, seppla and octopus marinated with extra virgin olive oil and fresh lemon over Italian greens; and a choice of Entree between zuppa di mare (mussels, clams, shrimp, scallops and calamari in a red or shite sauce over pasta) OR a combination of baccala pizziola, salmon scampi and baked flounder.
Casamari in Burlington is going to have five days of feasting (December 20 to 24) for $35 a person. They’re billing it as “The Best Holiday Feast in New Jersey”, and the menu includes: Mushroom Caps stuffed with Crab, Homemade Gnocchi, Seafood Mediterranean Salad, Smoked Salmon Crostini, Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, Lobster Bisque Soup, Sauteed Bronzino, Pan Seared Salmon, Baccala Livornese, Cioppino (Italian seafood stew) and special Italian desserts, including homemade Italian cookies.
Scaturro’s in Marlton is serving up its own feast on Christmas Eve for $42.95. Check out the menu here. They are also offering a takeout menu if you can also take your feast home.
Feasting on fish will also be taking place at Bacio in Cinnaminson this Christmas Eve for $55 a person. Check out their tasty-looking menu; the entrees look very intriguing (especially the sea bass encrusted in pignoli nuts…oooo).
Andreotti’s Viennese Cafe is giving you dining in and taking out options for Christams Eve. For a sit-down meal, the cost is only $39 a person (Baccala and risotto beignets for an appetizer? Sign me up for that action!). The takeout option is a spread for 10 people for $209 in total.
Filomena’s Berlin and Filomena Lakeview in Deptford will both be offering a Feast of the Seven Fishes menu on Christmas Eve. Contact the restaurants for the details.
Catelli’s in Voorhees is not having a special Christams Eve menu, and while it’s not fish only, you can certainly make your own feast. In fact, you could get all your fish with their Chilled “Seven Fish” Seafood Plate appetizer.
And DiPaolo’s in Penns Grove is having a Seven Fish Buffet Dinner from 3Pm to 10PM on Christmas Eve for $39.95 a person. The buffet menu includes: Seafood Antipasta Salad, Shrimp Cocktail, Baccala in Tomato Sauce, Penne Fradiavolo, Linguini w/Clams, Spicey Red Mussels, Penne Alla Pescatore, Fried Smelts, Stuffed Flounder w/Crabmeat, Baked Salmon w/Lemons & Capers, Fried Calamari, and Shrimp Risotto.
NEW! Nunzio Ristorante Rustico in Collingswood is doing a family-style Seven Fishes dinner on Christmas Eve for $55 a person.
NEW! Tre Famiglia in Haddonfield has a Seven Fishes takeout menu that includes a number of tasty options.
NEW! Max’s Seafood Cafe in Gloucester will have their Feast of the Seven Fishes menu available on December 22 and 23. The five-course dinner is $39 a person, and the six-course dinner is $49 a person.
NEW! Terra Nova down in Sewell will be having a four-course Feast on Christmas Eve for $40 a person.
Is this a compete list? Probably not, but I will be making some further inquiries to see who else is doing the Seven Fishes feast. Any updates will be added here. If you come across one that’s not here, feel free to post about it in the Comments section.
